Product Marketing/Finance Manager
Book Arts Collaborative
When I was chosen to be the Finance Manager for Book Arts Collaborative (a title that would later be changed to Product Marketing Manager to better reflect the work I was doing), I knew I was being given a special opportunity. This was Book Arts' first year in business, and as one of five managers, I was being given a tremendous amount of responsibility.
I led a team of three other members, and together we oversaw all of our external retailers, as well as conducted market research for products and pricing. At the semester break, I gave my team greater freedom to manage our retailers, and took a more "hands-off" role. This "hands-off" leadership came as my project director asked that I spend more time on design, and allowed me to learn the joys and struggles of not being able to always lead by doing the work yourself. I learned to have greater trust in my team members to fulfill their obligations, and greatly benefited from that experience.

Vice President of Development
As the VP of Development (over Recruitment, Fundraising, and Public Relations), I led a team that ranged from 3- 13 team members. This often made it challenging, as the team's dynamics changed often, causing me to adapt my leadership style throughout the year. I learned a lot from this position, including a significant deal about myself and my style of leadership. I also gained a fair bit of experience in leading teams, planning events, fundraising, dealing with other leaders in other departments of College Mentors for Kids, as well as other organizations.

Camp Counselor
Spring Mill Bible Camp
After attending Spring Mill Bible Camp for much of my childhood, I have been able to be a counselor three out of the past four years. Not only is it a time of refreshment and fun for myself, I get to help lead and shape the minds of 7th-12th graders for a week. I teach small classes and give lessons to the entire camp. I also help plan activities and make sure campers are safe, following all rules, and having a great time.

I truly love the week I get to spend with these children and the other counselors I grew up with. I look forward to continuing to come back every year for as long as I am able, no matter how far my career takes me from SMBC.
